Organizations change because leaders own and drive the change, whether they’re at the top, middle or bottom of the hierarchy. Executives often end up in leadership positions based on deep technical knowledge and skills. To be effective, however, leaders need skills they can use to influence their team members, their peers, and their own leadership. An emphasis on accountability, responsibility and ownership of the success of a project is important, but equally important is teaching people how to get things done through and with other people.
Making Change Happen When you Aren’t In Charge (or Even When You Are) covers practical ideas to influence stakeholders one-on-one. Participants will walk away from the session with an assortment of easy to use ideas to immediately apply with key stakeholders at work, in the community and at home.
About the speaker:
Fred Jewell is an Executive Director at Jabian Consulting. Fred brings a wealth of experience from over 20 years in the consulting industry helping companies make their strategic initiatives stick. Fred has experience leading from the bottom, middle and top of the organization, holding key positions in IT transformation and change management, IT delivery, quality management, IT outsourcing, and software process improvement.
Fred holds both a BS and an MS in Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, specializing in Human Factors and Engineering Psychology.
